 Wine tasting

This winery opened back in 1997 by Charles Bark,  as the name states, Spice Route, offers a variety of wines which are made of exotic spices to tease your taste buds. The destination is situated on the perfect spot on the mountains overlooking the beautiful scenery  Paarl and Cape Town has to offer.

There are three options to choose from, Malabar tasting for only R40 then the standard tasting, also known as Swartland wine journey at the cost of only R50, offering you with five different wines to taste from. If you’re into nibbling and drinking at the same time the wine and charcuterie journey is for  you at the cost of R85.

Whether its cold or sunny outside spice route has the option of heading to the cosy underground tasting room or enjoy your wine under the pergola, or on the expansive lawns, with a beautiful view to enjoy.

Cape Brewery Company

The Cape Brewery Company (CBC) produces a wide range of craft beers since 2012, using only the finest ingredients and state-of-the-art equipment. You have the option of either drinking it on tap or at the tasting stations. There are four core brews: pilsner, lager, Krystal Weiss and Amber Weiss made using crystal-clear water from a nearby spring in the Paarl mountain, this is what gives the beer its unique and exotic flavour.

Choose between tasting two beers mainly raspberry and peach for R20 or four beers (R30) or six (R40) before you decide which (and how many)

La Grapperia 

Everyone enjoys a good meal, with a great view. Enjoy a selection of wood-fired, thin-based pizzas, flammkuchen (German-style pizzas) and tapas with a glass or two of Spice Route’s award-winning wines at this casual eatery. La Grapperia offers you a light lunch under the trees, sharing a variety of dishes from the tapas menu followed by several delicious pizzas with different toppings.

DV Café

If you’re more of a coffee or ice cream lover in comparison to alcohol, then this is the place for you. At this cottage cafe things are made from scratch to give you that unique homey taste. They roast their own small batches of coffee from single origins and single estates around the world.

To accompany your coffee a mouth-watering selection of freshly baked cakes, tarts, brownies and muffins are offered, and its all gluten free. Saving the best for last, the natural homemade ice-cream and sorbets, made in the DV kitchen using their very own chocolate and coffee and local produced, fresh strawberries.

Chocolate Tasting at de Villiers chocolate

To all those with a sweet tooth, this factory and shop is situated in a historic building on the farm where chocolates are hand-crafted from cocoa beans sourced from across the globe. Not only offering chocolate to eat but aslo to drink.
Daily tastings are available and vary from the chocolate and confectionary tasting (R25) to the chocolate truffle workshop for  connoisseurs (R145).Drinking chocolate and coffee beans can be purchased.
